Bluebell Festival Inveraray

Jail break Hill Run

11 May

This well watched 7km race starts with a mass breakout from Inveraray Jail along the lochside to the Cross Green and into Inveraray Castle grounds. The first km and a half is on a tarmac surface through the estate grounds. After this the terrain is trail track the condition of which can be very variable depending on the weather. Expect lots of mud, bogs and very loose stones and you probably won't be disappointed! The course ascends fairly sharply to 248m the top of Dun Na Cuaiche where runners will go round the watchtower before descending to finish the race in front of Inveraray Castle.

There are 1st, 2nd and 3rd place prizes in the following categories M/F Senior, V40, V50 plus, first local finisher (Inveraray/Furnace/Minard) and first Jogscotland finisher. There are also junior races of 2.5m (12-15yrs) and 1.9m (6-11). Click the button below for a competitors entry form.

Jail 25th anniversary

11 May

Inveraray Jail is a living museum and top Scottish visitor attraction where real people portray life in a 19th century prison. Interact with costumed characters, watch courtroom trials, talk to the prisoners, meet the Warder, go to jail and witness cell life, sample the punishments, browse the exhibition of prison artefacts, then make your escape.

Inveraray Jail has a rich history behind it. Since its opening to the public as a living museum in 1989, visitors can step back in time to see for themselves the impressive courthouse where actual court cases are re-enacted from historical records.

This year is their 25th anniversary and the Jail is having a day of special events to mark the occasion. We will update this section as the plan is finalised but suffice to say this a date for the diary as Jail always celebrates it successes in style.
