More about The George Hotel

The present George Hotel, Inveraray, was originally two private houses completed in 1770. They were part of a project by the 3rd Duke of Argyll, started in 1744, to build a whole new town in Inveraray. This was to be the first example in Scotland of a planned town.

In 1776 the 5th Duke of Argyll ordered that the ground floor flat of each of these private houses would be made into temporary churches for the Gaelic and English speaking congregations. These two churches are now covered by the Public Bar, Front Lounge and Church Hall. How the times have changed!

In 1860 the two private houses were amalgamated into the George Hotel by the Clark family, in whose possession the hotel still remains. Generation seven now resides in the hotel. The present owner, Donald Clark, has carefully and sensitively restored and enhanced the bedrooms, restaurants and bars to create a unique atmosphere.

On a cold winter’s day in 1998 I stopped at the Loch Fyne Hotel en route to the Islay ferry. It was then a small privately owned family hotel which exuded hospitality, but above all I was absolutely captivated by the truly stunning view. A view like this so close to such a picture postcard town as Inveraray is an absolute rarity , we fell in love with everything about it.

Since then, we have been able to bring to the Hotel an extensive Leisure Spa, a new restaurant, junior suites and other room choices. Every addition we have made has been focused on complimenting the sheer beauty of its location and the warmth and character of the original house.

At the Loch Fyne Hotel & Spa we have put our heart and soul into creating a special place within a very special place. We promise to put our heart and soul into making your stay here as memorable as my own first visit.

More about The First House Hotel

Formerly the Fernpoint Hotel, this beautiful Georgian lochside house offers comfortable and relaxing accommodation in Inveraray on the shores of Loch Fyne with uninterrupted loch views from many of its rooms.

The house itself was the first house to be built in the new town. Tack or lease to build a house on "the fern point" was granted in 1748 to local merchant John Richardson by the Duke of Argyll in recognition of his services in the Jacobite rebellion. In 1746 Richardson served the Duke without fee under Archibald Campbell of Ballamore, at Duart Castle on Mull and later became Lord Provost of Inveraray. The original name of the house was "Ardraineach" which is the gaelic for the "Fern point".

This magnificent Grade 1 listed house has been sensitively restored recently to its original splendour and is well regarded. First House is associated and next door to the silver medal winning gastropub, The George Hotel. All meals are provided there in the conservatory or bar/restaurant. Breakfast is included in the room price with the option of either a continental breakfast served in your room, or a full breakfast at the George Hotel next door.

Accommodation options include a double room with four poster bed and two twin rooms. All our rooms are en-suite with digital TV, DVD player and WiFi Internet access. Our guests are greeted in the residents lounge on arrival with a cup of tea or coffee and biscuits.

The bedroom and lounge areas are comfortable. Each room with its own style, character and aspect. All of our rooms are en-suite. We like our guests to be relaxed and at peace in their room and so you will find WiFi internet access, digital television, DVD player with a selection of movies as well as tea/coffee making facilities with biscuits.

The rooms are centrally heated and our comfortable beds are made with clean cotton sheets, pillowcases and duvet covers and our bathrooms have cotton towels and face flannels. All the little things that make for a very pleasant stay.

Breakfast is generally recognised as the most important meal of the day. At breakfast time, it′s been a while since you have put some calories in your body and you are preparing to start the most active part of your day. More about Killean Farmhouse & Cottages

Killean Farmhouse is no longer a working farm but still retains much of the characteristics, not least the wonderful scenery that surrounds the house and the approach up the drive from the A83.

The Scottish tourist board 3 star Killean House has five en suite rooms, all decorated and equipped to a high standard. After a comfortable nights sleep you can enjoy breakfast served in the conservatory. We cater for most peoples tastes including the popular traditional Scottish breakfast of bacon, eggs, sausages and tomato.

Cottages

The cottage accommodation is ideal for those who want to relax and have more freedom to explore the beautiful countryside. They are decorated and equipped to a good standard and costs less than the main house.

The Byre is split into three units

Cottage E sleeps 6 and has a living room with colour TV
Cottage F sleeps 4 and has a living room with colour TV
Cottage G sleeps 5 and has a living room with colour TV

The Shepherds Cottage sleeps a maximum of 6 people and has a living room with colour TV

The Hayshed is the largest of the cottages sleeping 9. It also has a living room and colour TV

The Shealing has one bedroom and a living room with colour TV. It can sleep 3 people

The Bothy has three bedrooms and a living room with colour TV. It sleeps 6 people

The cottages are set in a square around a courtyard and all have adequate parking facilities

Well behaved dogs are welcome. Please mention your dog when you make your booking

Breakfast is included in the Cottage price and served in the Main House. Cottages are not graded by the Tourist Board

More about Breagha Lodge

All our tastefully decorated bedrooms are en-suite with digital T.V. and have a well stocked welcome tray. There is a large resident’s lounge with excellent views over Loch Fyne and complimentary Wi-Fi is available here as well as the bedrooms.

The dining room also has loch views and if you are lucky you may see the porpoises in the morning. We offer a good selection of fruit juice, cereals, yoghurts and fruit along with a cooked breakfast to set you up for the day ahead.

Breagha Lodge is an ideal base from which you can make day trips to The Mull of Kintyre, Fort William and Glencoe, Loch Lomond and the Trossachs and Oban and Loch Awe. This saves you having to pack and unpack every day.

The town also offers Inveraray Castle and Inveraray Jail which are worth a visit if the weather turns for the worse. If you take the path to the top of Dun Na Cuaiche you are rewarded with splendid panoramas of Inveraray and Loch Fyne. On the other hand there is a 9 hole golf course for those who want to spoil a good walk!

More about the Town House

The Town House and Loft were the fifth building to be constructed in Inveraray′s New Town, the house was fitted with cellars and storerooms for exports and imports by Merchant John Richardson in 1760 and the house was subsequently named Neil Gillies′ House. In 1830 it was converted into a Bank of Scotland.

The Town House sleeps 4. The living room is comfortably elegant with a tartan twist containing traditional wooden fireplace and wood-burning stove, chesterfield sofa, two high-back Queen Anne chairs with footstool.

The master bedroom is period decorated with a magnificent king-size four poster bed. A second bedroom with an iron double bed, a dining room with views over Loch Fyne and a modern fitted kitchen complete this luxurious apartment.

This first floor apartment is accessed via a rare example of a Scottish circular turreted staircase. The staircase is not suitable for wheel chairs.

There is parking available at the front and side of the building (Pay & Display April ~ October).

More about Airdeny Chalets

The 2 bedroom and 3 bedroom cottages are lovingly constructed from timber and decorated to provide you with the comforts of home.

In each chalet the living area is open plan. There are armchairs, a sofa (in the 2-bed chalets this converts into two single beds), dining table and chairs, a TV, plus DVD and CD players. The kitchen is fully kitted out - so no need to pack the sink!

Linen is supplied for the bedrooms, but there is a fee if bedding is required for the living room in the 2 bed cottages. Towels, cots and high chairs can be hired, but please give us notice.

To keep you snug in the cooler months there are heaters and double glazing throughout.

Electricity is by meter (charged at the current rate) and payable at your stay's end. Laundry facilities are available on site. Dogs are welcome in some of the chalets, for a small charge.
